So the BBC is reporting that in his new book, Stephen Hawking has come to the conclusion that the Big Bang followed the laws of physics and that God has no place in the idea of our creation. Very interesting, since before he had never ruled out the possibility.
Of course this will obviously offend and upset a lot of people, but it really begs the question, could we see a decrease in the amount of religion in the world as more and more science is being able to disprove it, while religion is not able to prove themselves with hard evidence?
Definitely is going to be interesting to see how things turn out and what the fallout of this will be. Check out the article here.
Ill make a little article about it tomorrow

I don't think we should remove religion from the world, but I think it would be nice if people treated it more as simply philosophy. There aren't extremist philosophers. :|
ReplyDeleteawesome post is awesome... keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, I'll read the article now.
ReplyDeleteAnytime we take a good (or at least decent) idea and turn it into a religion people will screw it up. The universe could not have created itself out of nothing. It either has always existed - expanding and then collapsing only to repeat, or it was manifested by some force. If it was created by a force then that force (call it what you want) must have always existed... either that or some other force manifested that force. He concludes that the universe manifested itself because of physical laws. Great, but um, what caused the physical laws to manifest? They just are? Well, that loops us back around to the paradox of HOW they just ARE. This is where abstraction and philosophy can come to our rescue. Abstraction and philosophy openly admit that they do not know and that they can only speculate. This mind-set encourages open discussion, open-mindedness, and rids us of senseless arguing.
ReplyDeleteThere are forces that science has failed to recognize. I think in the end the story science will tell will be one of unity of "spirit" and "physical" - wholeness if you will.
Yea I think the universe...or multiverse just spawn out of no where.

ReplyDeleteI'm not a very religious man, and what science proves makes a lot more sense than what the bible or most other religious work says. I don't really agree with Hawking just coming out and saying that though, since a lot of people will take offense to that.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there probably is some reasoning behind it, and it will proably help advance science.
nice article

ReplyDelete"begs the question, could we see a decrease in the amount of religion in the world as more and more science is being able to disprove it, while religion is not able to prove themselves with hard evidence?"
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping.
As usual, the media are paraphrasing. He didn't exactly say it that way (not that i would have anything against it). Basically, what he is trying to say is that science doesn't care about god, since, if he/she/it did exist, it would be supernatural, outside the sphere of science, which studies only nature.
ReplyDeleteIt's like wondering what the value of y is in the equation "X-1 = 0". You can wonder as much as you want, but it has nothing to do with the equation.
Laser hair removal is a now common procedure which removes hair from a persons body using a laser, laser technology is able to break the hair growth cycle by targeting and killing the hair follicle. Visit this site for the details.
